1. Causes of diabetes
When the body experiences blood sugar metabolism disorders, it will lead to diabetes. Unfortunately, modern medicine still does not have a cure for this disease. It can only treat and reduce symptoms of the disease and maintain stable blood sugar levels.
There are 3 types of diabetes caused by different causes:
-
Type 1 diabetes: due to damage that causes the beta cells of the pancreatic islets to lose the function of producing insulin. Without insulin, glucose cannot enter the cells but is retained in the blood, causing blood glucose levels to increase, causing diabetes;
-
Type 2 diabetes: is caused by an ineffective pancreas that does not secrete the necessary amount of insulin, or insulin itself does not work effectively, leading to insulin resistance. , increases blood sugar leading to diabetes.
-
Gestational diabetes: occurs during pregnancy. During this period, the placenta secretes a number of hormones to stimulate fetal development. However, they can make the mother's body have difficulty producing or using insulin (insulin resistance). Therefore, to maintain a stable amount of sugar in the blood, the mother's pancreas will increase the production of more insulin (3 times more than usual). If this organ lacks insulin production, the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood increases, causing gestational diabetes.
2. What should diabetic patients avoid eating?
2.1. White rice
It can be said that white rice is the "national food" of many Asian countries, including Vietnam. A recent study has shown that eating rice made from white rice Regularly will increase the risk of diabetes by about 27%. The reason is because white rice is rich in starch, which easily increases blood glucose. Instead of using white rice, you can use brown rice because of this type of rice contains a lot of fiber and contains little road.
